How moderate am I if I take sides?

I don't think a Donald Trump Presidency is good for America or the world given, what I believe, is the compromised nature of his business and personality.

What I am finding hard is to read about his actions and commentary defending his presidency without immediately shutting my brain down.

Contrast this with my response to Obama's actions as President.

E.g., Obama apparently deported a lot more people from the States than is acknowledged and discussed. He was complicit in not prosecuting and taking down financial companies in the thick of the Great Financial Crisis of 2008-09 using the Too Big To Fail defense. His Attorney-General was aware of Fast and Furious which provided guns to narcotics cartels in Mexico which, if nothing else, strengthened their hand in their battle with the Mexican government.

Through all this, my personal support for Obama and his Presidency has remained steadfast.

On the other hand, when I read about Donald Trump's actions as the American President, my immediate reaction is to recoil and feel that anything he does is probably mean spirited, poorly thought out, or flat out illegal.

How does one remain objective after an opinion has been formed about a person? How to separate a person from their actions?

I had the same problem with George W. Bush. Nothing (little?) he did or said seemed right and proper for the world. Yes, he ordered the invasion of Iraq but he also pushed for No Child Left Behind. He seemed light in the head but you don't win two general elections by being stupid (I think).

Am I guilty of believing narratives? I consider myself a moderate who can listen to the opposing side of argument and find merit in it. Yet, twice in succession, with Bush and Trump, I have been unable to separate my personal antipathy from a person's ideas.
